Standard riot shields are built to hold a line, not to control a resisting individual in close quarters. The CS-4 Riot Shield is designed specifically for cell extraction, with a foam pad on the concave surface that provides real holding friction against a subject. Built for two-person operation, it gives corrections teams the extra holding power a single-officer shield can’t provide, while dielectric handles prevent electrical pass-through during Taser incidents. At 7 lbs, with .150″ thick polycarbonate construction and superior optical quality, the CS-4 is purpose-built for the specific demands of cell extraction, not adapted from a crowd control design.
